Following the approval of over N22 billion by President Muhammadu Buhari for aviation pensioners, the federal government will on October 15 begin verification and payment of Nigeria Airways Limited ex-workers nationwide.
The was contained in a statement signed by the special adviser to the minister of finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, on media and communications, Mr Paul Ella Abechi on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Abuja.
The payment exercise is expected to last for one week, from Monday, October 15 to Monday, October 22, 2018.
He said, the secretary, Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA), Dr M.K. Dikwa, announced that the verification exercise and payment will hold in three centres, including Lagos, Kano and Enugu respectively.
According to him, in Lagos Centre, the exercise will take place at Sky-Power Catering, Ikaja, Lagos, while it will hold at ABC (former Nigeria Airways Office), Bank Road, Kano, for the Kano Centre. The venue for Enugu Centre is Villa Toscana Hotel, No 1 Aguleri Street, Independent Layout, Enugu. The exercise will take place from Monday, October 15 to Monday, October 22, 2018 across the centers except in Enugu where it will end on Thursday, October 18, 2018.
The statement further revealed that, “beneficiaries are expected to come along with the following documents to the centres: Letter of Appointment, Letter of Confirmation, Letter of Last Promotion, Letter of Retirement, NAL Identity Card, Other Means of Identification (National ID Card, International Passport, Driver’s License, etc), Particulars of Bank Account: A cheque slip or statement of Bank Account, Letter of Administration to be presented by Next-of-Kin (NOKs) in the case of deceased beneficiaries.
“That beneficiaries will be subjected to biometric Data Capture; That beneficiaries should come along with copies of documents listed above for submission to the Verification Committee; That the beneficiaries are to be captured in an orderly manner hence, notice will be placed at the venue and specific date for capturing of each beneficiary will be indicated.”
It would be recalled that the minister of finance, Mrs Ahmed, had in a meeting with the NAL ex-workers in September 24, 2018 revealed that President Buhari has approved the part payment of N22 billion to the pensioners and assured that the remaining half will be paid in the next six months when the economy improves.
